The correct Answer is:
D

For the purpose of research and use in medicine , antibodies are often isolated by sacreficing animals after hyper immunising them with antigens. From such hyper immunised animals, the blood serum may be taken and the antibodies may be isolated from the serum. However, the antibodies, whenever separated from the serum after induction due to an antigen are usually heterogenous since hte cells keep on producing a variety of antibodies.
Consequently, the antibody preparation made from the serum will not havve the desired specifity and , therefore, can not be utilised for diagnosis or screening etc. Monoclonal antibodies (Mabs), on the other hand are homogeneous immunological reagents of defined specifcity so that these can be utilised for diagnosis and screening with ease and certainty.
