The base of a parallelogram is thrice its height. If the area is `867 cm^2`, find the base of the parallelogram.

Text Solution

solution:
It is given that, the base of the parallelogram is thrice its height.
the area of parallelogram is `867 m^2`
let `x` is the height of the parallelogram. Its base will be `3x`
the formula used to find the area of a parallelogram is given by
A=basexxheight
so,
`867=3x^2`
`x=sqrt 289`
`x=17`
so, the height is `17 m` and the base of the parallelogram is `3(17) = 51 m`
