Find the area of a trapezium whose parallel sides are `20cm` and `10cm` and other sides are `13cm` and `13cm`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given
The length of parallel sides are `20cm` and `10cm`.
and non parallel sides are length of `13cm` and `13cm`.
we need to find area of trapizium.
we divide the trapizium into 3 parts :2 parts and a rectangle .
Base of triangle `=(20-10)/2 =5`.
Height of the triangle and rectangle ,
`h^2=13^2-5^2`
`implies h^2=144`
`implies h=sqrt (144)`
`implies h=12cm`.
Area of trapezium `=(1/2)xx`(sum of parallel sides)`xx`(height)`=(1/2)xx(10+20)xx12`
`=180cm^2`.
Hence area of trapezium is `180cm^2`.
