A beam 5m long and 40cm wide contains 0.6 cubic metre of wood. How thick is the beam?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

given that
Let the thickness of beam be `x`
Length of beam =` 5m`
Width of beam =` 40 cm = 0.4 m`
Volume of wood =`lxxwxxt`
Volume of wood =`5xx0.4xx x`
We are given that volume is `0.6` cubic meters of wood.
So,`5xx0.4xx x=0.6`
`x=(0.6)/(5xx0.4)m`
`x=0.3 m`
