Two cylinder cans have bases of the same size. The diameter of each is 14cm. One of the canes is 10cm high and the other is 20cm high. Find the ratio of their volumes.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Diameter of each cylinder`=14 cm`
Radius of each cylinder`=14/2=7 cm`
Height of each cylinder`=10 cm and 20 cm`
`h_1=10 cm`
`h_2=20 cm`
Ratio of Volumes:
`=V_1/V_2=(pir_1^2h_1)/(pir_2^2h_2)`
If both the cylinder have same radius then the only difference will be in their heights.
So, the ratio of volumes will be in the ratio of their heights
`h_1/h_2=10/20=1/2`
`therefore` Ratio`=1:2`
