The radii of two cylinders are in the ratio 2:3 and their heights are in the ratio 5:3. Calculate the ratio of their volumes and the ratio of their curved surfaces.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

let radii of two cylinders are 2x and 3x respectively
and their height are 5x and 3x
then volume of 1st cylinder `=pixx(2x)^2xx5y`
volume of second cylinder `=pixx(3x)^2xx3y`
so ratio of their volume `=[pi(2x)^2xx5y]/[pi(3x)^2xx3y]`
`=20:30`
again ratio of curved surface area `=[2pixx(2x)xx5y]/[2pixx(3x)xx3y]`
`=10:9`
