Two batteries A and B and three resistor...

Two batteries A and B and three resistors are conneted Internal resistence of both batteries is `1Omega` each as shown. EMF of battery B is 5V The potential difference between P and Q is zero. Which of following is/are TRUE

A

the current through `5Omegais 3`A

B

the current through the battery A is 8A

C

the emf of the source A is 47V

D

the p.d. between O and p is 8V

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A, B, C

`V_(PQ)=5-I_(1)(1)=0 Rightarrow I_(1)=5A`
`x=3(I_(1))=-15V`
`Rightarrow I_(3)=3A`
`:.I_(2)=5+3=8A`
`Rightarrow V_(0)=8(3)=24V`
`V_(0)-V_(P)-24-(-15)=39 V`
Also, `V_(0)-V_(P)=E-I_(2)(I)`
`Rightarrow 39=E-8(1)`
`Rightarrow E=47V`
