A certain person nicknamed "Raju" encountered an automatic staircase (i.e. escalator) at a shopping complex, which was moving upward at a constant rate. Just for the fun of it he decided to walk up this escalator at the rate of one step a second Twenty steps brings him to the top Next day he goes up at two steps a second and reaches the top in 32 steps How many steps are there in the escalator?

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
`0080`

`v_(e)` = speed of escalator steps per second
Total length in steps `=20+v_(e)20=32+16_(v)`
`v_(e) =3 steps/sec`
Total length in steps `=20+3xx20=80`
