`(l_(1)-l_(2))/(l_(1)-l_(3))=(alphal_(0)(T_(1)-T_(2)))/(alphal_(0)(T_(1)-T_(3)))=(T_(1)-T_(2))/(T_(1)-T_(3))`
`or (5.2-3.9)/(5.2-2.6)=(80-60)/(80-T_(3))`
`1.3(80-T_(3))=2.6(20) orT_(3)=40^(@)C`

A faulty barometer contains certains amount of air and saturated water vapour . It reads 74.0cm when the atmospheric pressure is 76.0cm of mercury and reads 72.10cm when the atmospheric pressure at the air temperature=1.0cm of mercury. Find the length of the baromerer tube above the mercury level in the reservoir.

The readings of a thermometer at 0^(@)C and 100^(@)C are 50 cm and 75 cm of mercury column respectively. Find the temperature at which its reading is 80 cm of mercury column ?

In a constant volume gas thermometer, the pressure of the working gas is measured by the differenced in the levels of mercury in the two arms of a U-tube connected to the gas at one end. When the bulb is placed at the room temperature 27.0^0 C , the mercury column in the arm open to atmosphere stands 5.00 cm above the level of mercury in the other arm. When the bulb is placed in a hot liquid, the difference of mercury levels becomes 45..0 Cm . Calculate the temperature of the liquid. (Atmospheric pressure = 75.0cm of mercury).

In a mercury thermometer, the level of mercury rises when its bulb comes in contact with a hot object. What is the reason for this rise in the level of mercury ?

A constant volume gas thermometer shows pressure readings of 50 cm and 90 cm of mercury at 0^(0)C and 100^(0)C respectively. What is the temperature on gas scale when the pressure reading is 60 cm of mercury ?

A mercury barometer reads 75cm in vertical position . If the tube is inclined by 60^(@) to the vertical, the length of the mercury in the tube will be

A column of mercury is in the middle of horizontal tube of uniform cross section closed at both ends. The pressure of the enclosed air column on either side of the mercury is 75 cm of mercury column. When the tuve is placed vertical the length air below the mercury column is (3)/(5) th of that above it. if length of mercury column is 10n cm. find n.

A constant volume gas thermometer shows pressure readings of 60 cm and 90 cm of mercury at 0”^(@)C and 100”^(@)C respectively. What is the temperature on gas scale, when pressure reading is 70 em of mercury?
