40 g of element `to` 60g of oxygen , 1g `to` 60/40=1.5 g
50 g of element `to` 50 g of oxygen , 1 g `to` 50/50=1g
Therefore the weight of oxygen that combine with 1 g of the element in the two oxides are in the ratio of 1:1.5 or 2:3 which is a simpler ratio . Hence it holds the law of multiple proportions
