when conneceted to 200 V mains suply ,has power pieces , which `P_(1)` . Now the wire is cut into two equal pieces , which are connected in parallel to the same supply . Power dissipation in this case is `P_(2)` . What is te ratio of `P_(2)and P_(1)` ?

If R be the resistance of the wire , then resistance of each of the pieces id `(R)/(2)` .
Equivalent resistance of the parallel combination,
`r=(R/(2)xx(R)/(2))/(R/(2)+(R)/(2))=(R)/(4)" or, "(R)/(r)=4`
`"So, " (P_(2))/(P_(1))=((V^(2))/r)/((V^(2))/R)=(R)/(4)=4`
