Two coaxial solenoids of different radii...

Two coaxial solenoids of different radii carry current I in the same direction . Let `vecF_(1)` be the magnetic force on the inner solenoid due to the outer one and `veF_(2)` be the magnetic force on the outer solenoid due to the inner one. Then

A

`vecF_(1)= vecF_(2)=0`

B

`vecF_(1)` is radialy inward and `vecF_(2)` is radially outwards

C

`vecF_(1)` is radially inward and `vecF_(2)=0`

D

`vecF_(1)` is readially outward and `vecF_(2)=0`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The two coaxial solenoids are actually tow magnets of the same strenght, the inner solenoid being completerly surrounded by the outer solneoid. Now resultant force due to a magnet acts on another magnet.
Hecne `vecF_(1)= vecF_(2)=0`
The option A is correct.
