In a hydrogen atom, how many times is the energy of the electron in the fourth orbit compared to that in the second orbit ?

If the principal quantum of orbit be n, the total energy,
`E_n prop 1/(n_2)`.
Hence , the ratio of the energies of electrons in the orbits is
`1: 1/4:1/9:1/(16):……….. .`
So, `("energy of electron in the fourth orbit ")/("energy of electron in the second orbit") =(1/(16))/(1/4)=1/4`
Therefore, the energy of the electron in the fourth orbit is `1/4` part of the energy of the electron in the second orbit.
