The `(x, y)` co-ordinates of the corners of a square plate are `(0, 0)`, `(L, L)` and `(0, L)`. The edges of the plate are clamped and transverse standing waves are set up in it. If `u(x, y)` denotes the displacement of the plate at the point `(x, y)` at some instant of time, the possible expression `(s)` for `u` is (are) `(a = positive constant)`

A

`a cos ((pi x)/(2L)) cos ((pi y)/(2L))`

B

`a sin ((pi x)/(L)) sin ((pi y)/(L))`

C

`a sin ((pi x)/(L)) sin ((2pi y)/(L))`

D

`a cos ((2pi x)/(L)) cos ((pi y)/(L))`

A uniform rectangular plate has side length l and 2 l . The plate is in x - y plane with its centre at origin and sides parallel to x and y axes. The moment of inertia of the plate about an axis passing through a vertex (say A) perpendicular to the plane of the figure is I_(0) . A potential difference of V is applied across the capacitor plates. (i) Plot the variation of surface charge density (s) on the positive plate of the capacitor versus x. (ii) Plot the variation of electric field between the plates as a function of x. (iii) Calculate the capacitance of the capacitor.
