Chromium crystallises in a body-centred ...

Chromium crystallises in a body-centred cubic structure. The radius of a chromium atom is 125pm. What is the edge length of a unit cell in chromium crystal?

In case of body-centred cubic unit cell, the relation between the edge length (a) of the cell and the radius ( r) of its particle is, `a=(4r)/(sqrt3)`, as r = 125pm,
`a=(4)/(sqrt3)r=(4xx125)/sqrt3`pm = 288.67pm
Therefore, the edge length of a chromium atom = 288.67pm.
