A group 14 element is to be converted into n-type semiconductor by doping it with a suitable impurity. To which group should this impurity belong?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

An n-type semiconductor is one in which current carriers are negatively charged electrons ('n' stands for negative). When a group 14 element is doped with a group 15 element, its crystal structure contains excess electrons and it is converted into an n-type semiconductor,.
