The word amorphous means 'without form'. An amorphous solid is one that does not have a definite geometrical shape and a sharp melting point, and lacks a long range ordered arrangement of its constituent particles.
Examples: Glass, waxes, rubber, plastics such as polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, etc.
