An element crystallises is a fcc lattice with cell edge of 250 pm. Calculate the density of 300 g of this element containing `2xx10^(24)` atoms.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

If the atomic mass of the element be M `g*mol^(-1)`, then number of atomic in its 300g = `300/Mxx6.022xx10^(23)`
`therefore300/Mxx6.022xx10^(23)=2xx10^(24)`
or, `M=90.345g*mol^(-1)`
`thereforerho=(ZxxM)/(Nxxa^(3))=(4xx90.345)/(6.022xx10^(23)xx(2.5xx10^(-8))^(3))`
`=38.4g*cm^(-3)`
