Elements with atojmic number 9 and 532 belongs to p-block is and they have similar outer electronic configuration `(ns^(2)np^(5))` so they will wxhibit similar chemical propeties. Their group number=(10+2+5)=17. elements with atomic number 12 and 56 belong to s-block and they have similar outer electronic configuration `(ns^(2))`. so they will exhibit similar chemical properties. their group number=2. elements with atomic number 16 and 34 belong to p-block and they have similar outer electronic configuration `(ns^(2)np^(4))`. so, they will wxhibit similar chemical properties. their group pnumber (=10+2+4)=16. so, on the basis of similarity in chemical properties the given elements are divided into three groups.

The periodicity is related to the electronic configuration that is all chemical and physical properties are a manifestation of the electronic configuration of the elements.the atomic and ionic radii genreally decrease in a period from left to right as a consequence the ionization enthalpies genrally increase and electron gain enthalpies become more negative across a period in other words the ionization enthalpy of the extreme left element element in a period is the least and the electron gain enthalpy of the element on the extreme right is the highest negative.this results into highly chemical reactivity at the two extremes and the lowest in the centre similarly down the group the increase in atomic and ionic radii result in gradual decrease in ionization enthalpies and a regular decrease (with exception in some third period elements)in electron gain enthalpies in the csea of main group elements. reducing and oxidizing behaviour of the elements metallic and non metallic character of elements acidic, basic, amphoteric and neutral charcter of the oxides of the elements The correct order of the metallic character is

Write electronic configurations for the elements of atomic numbers 6 and 14 and from this find out of which group in the periodic table each elements belongs.

In a hexaonal system system of cycstals, a frequently encountered arrangement of atoms is described as a hexagonal prism. Here, the top and bottom of the cell are refular hexagons, and three atoms are sandwiched in between them. A space-cilling model of this structure, called hexagonal close-paked is constituted of a sphere on a flat surface surrounded in the same plane by six identical spheres as closely as possible. Three spherres are then placed overt the first layer so that they toych each other and represent the second layer so that they toych each other and present the second layer. Each one of the three spheres touches three spheres of the bottom layer. Finally, the second layer is convered with a third layer identical to the bottom layer in relative position. Assume the radius of every sphere to be r . The number of atom in this hcp unit cell is

Einstein established the idea of photons on the basis of Planck's quantum theory. According to his idea, the light of frequency f or wavelength lamda is infact a stream of photons. The rest mass of each photon is zero and velocity is equal to the velocity of light (c) = 3 xx 10^(8) m.s^(-1) . Energy, E = hf, where h = Planck's constant = 6.625 xx 10^(-34)J.s . Each photon has a momentum p = (hf)/(c) , although its rest mass is zero. The number of photons increase when the intensity of incident light increases and vice-versa. On the other hand, according to de Broglie any stream of moving particles may be represented by progressive waves. The wavelength of the wave (de Broglie wavelength) is lamda = (h)/(p) , where p is the momentum of the particle. When a particle having charge e is accelerated with a potential difference of V, the kinetic energy gained by the particle is K= eV. Thus as the applied potential difference is increased, the kinetic energy of the particle and hence the momentum increase resulting in a decrease in the de Broglie wavelength. Given, charge of electron, e = 1.6 xx 10^(-19)C and mass = 9.1 xx 10^(-31) kg . Two stationary electrons are accelerated with potential difference V_(1) and V_(2) respectively such that V_(1) : V_(2) = n . The ratio of their de Broglie wavelength
