The volume of a certain amount of gaa containing an incompressible solid is 100 cc at 760 mm Hg and 80cc at 1000 mm Hg. What is the volume of the solid?

Suppose the volume of the solid=V cc
So, the volume of the gas at 760 mm Hg and 1000 mm Hg
are (100-V) cc and (80-V)cc, respectively.
Using the relation, `P_(1)V_(1)=P_(2)V_(2)`, we have
`(760(100-V)=1000(80-V)` or , V=16.7 cc
Therefore, the volume of the solid is 16.7 cc.
