432 mL of gas A effuses out through a fine orifice in 36 min. 288 mL of another gas B effuses out through the same orifice in 48 mon. if the molecular weight of B is 64, what is the molecular weight of A?

According to Graham's law of effusion, `(r_(A))/(r_(B))=sqrt((M_(B))/(M_(A)))`
Given, `r_(A)=(432mL)/(36" min")=12ml*"min"^(-1)`,
`r_(B)=(288mL)/(48" min")=6mL*"min"^(-1) and M_(B)=64`
`therefore (12)/(6)=sqrt((M_(B))/(M_(A)))" "therefore M_(B)=4xxM_(A) or , M_(A)=(64)/(4)=16`.
