What is the difference between leaching and levigation?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The method of concentrating an ore chemically is called leaching. In this method the powdered ore is treated with acid, base or other chemicals which selectively dissolves the ore, not its impurities.
Levigation is based on the difference between the specific gravities of the ores and gangue particles. In this process lighter earthy gangue particles are removed from the heaviour ore by washing with water.
