Why do some metals occur in the native state?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Metals like Au, Pt and Ag exist in free state in nature because they are less electropositive, which means, they are less reactive (lower tendency of donating electrons) and are not attacked by `O_(2)`, moisture and `CO_(2)` of the air.
