Explain why the concentraction of the sulphide ore is usually carried out by froth-floatation.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Sulphide ore particles are preferentially wetted by oil which become ligher and rise to the surface along with the froth while the gangue particles become heavier and settle down at the bottom of the tank. Thus sulphide ores are concentrated by froth-floatation.
