What are glycosidic linkages? In which type of biomolecules are they present?

In oligosaccharides and polysaccharides, any two adjacent monosaccharide units are joined together by an ether linkage or oxide linkage formed by the loss of a molecule of water. Such a linkage between two monosaccharide units through oxygen atom is called glycosidic linkage.
