What is your inference about experiments with aphids?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The inference of the experiment wih aphids is as follows :
1) The conducting tissues of plants are xylem and phloem.
2) Xylem is made up of hard tissue and it helps in the conduction of water and minerals in the plants.
3) Phloem helps in the conduction of food from leaves into the stem and roots.
4) The food contents such as sugars and amino acids are transported with slight pressure in phloem.
5) Hence, aphids absorb sugars from phloem that they can not assimilate all of it and it excretes out of the body as sticky syrup called honydew.
