1) The valves between each atrium and its ventricle are one way valves. They allow the blood to flow from atrium to the ventricles without any hindrance, back flow of blood is stopped.
2) If there are no valves in the heart, blood flow will not be proper, heart can not pump the blood properly into the blood vessels.
