Global warming will expose millions of more people to malaria as parasite bearing mosquitoes move to higher attitudes, according to new research into the health perils from climate change. Tropical highland areas of Africa, Asia and Central and Southern America are particularly at risk, a study in the U.S. Journal Science said on thursday (6 Mar 2014).
Many ofthe major killers such a diarrhoeal diseases, malnutrition, malaria and dengue are highly climate sensitive and area expected to worsen as the climate changes according to the World Wealth Organisation (WHO). The health risks from climate change loom large in an upcoming report by the U.N's Nobel Winning inter governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
