What property of a reaction can be used to predict the effect of a change in temperature on the magnitude of an equilibrium constant?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Colour of the reaction mixture can be used to predict the effect to change in temperature on the magnitude of an equilibrium constant.
eg: `underset("Brown")(`2NO_(2)) underset("Heating")overset("Cooling")(hAr) underset("Colourles")(N_(2)O_(4))`
When the temperature decreases dimerisation of `SO_(2)` takes place more and thus the value of `K_(c)` increases.
