Does the number of moles of reaction products increase, decrease, or remains same when each of the following equilibrium is subjected to a decrease in pressure by increasing the volume?
`Cao(s)+CO(_2)(g)hArrCaCO_(3)(s)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In this reaction gaseous molecule `(CO_(2))` is present in the reactant. When pressure is decreased the number of `CO_(2)` molecules increase on reactant side. To increase the number of `CO_(2)` moles the `CaCO_(3)` should decompose. Thus the number of moles of products decrease.
