60 ml of 1 M HCl is mixed with 40 ml of 1M NaOH. What is the pHH of resultant solution?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`HCl+NaOHtoNaCl+H_(2)O`
Here acid is neutralised with base
So the concentration of acid
`[H^(+)]=[(V_(1)M_(1)-V_(2)M_(2))/("Total Vol")`
`=((60xx1)-(40xx1))/100=20/100=0.2M`
`pOH=-log[2xx10^(-1)]=0.6990`
