1) Glass is a transparent material. But ground glass is opaque and white in colour.
2) Ground glass is prepared by introducing some other materials. The refractive indexes of glass and the introducing materials are not same.
3) When light incident on ground glass it undergoes scattering when it passes from glass to other materials. So it become opaque and white in colour.
