How do you appreciate the role of brushes and slip rings in a motor?

1) In a motor if the direction of current in the coil is unchanged , it rotates only a half cycle but not full cycle
2) IF the direction of current In the coil,after the first half rotation, is reversed,the coil will continue to rotate in the same direction.
3) To achieve this,brushes `B_1` and `B_2` are used.
4) These brushes are connected to the battery.
5) The ends of the coil are connected to slip rings `C_1` and `C_2` which rotate along with the coil.
6) Initially `C_1` is in contact with `B_1` and `C_2` is in contact with `B_2`.
7) After a half rotation, the brushes come into contact with the other slip rings in such a way that the direction of current through the coil is reversed.
8) This happens every half rotation.
9) Thus the direction of rotation of the coil remains the same.
