Two lines of force in an electric field ...

Two lines of force in an electric field never intersect each other. Why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Two lines of force can never intersect each other, because if they do so, then at the point of intersection two tangents can be drawn in two different directions. It means that the electric intensity has two directions at single point, which is not possible.
