A free electron and a free proton are placed in an uniform electric field. Compare their acceleration and the force acting on them. [Rest mass of electron `=9.1xx10^(-31)kg` and rest mass of proton `=1.67xx10^(-27kg`]

If the intensity of the electric field is E, then force acting on the electron,
`F_(e )=eE" "` [where e = charge of electron]
Since charge of a proton is same as electron, then the force acting on the proton,
`F_(p)=eE or, (F_(e))/(F_(p)) =1`
Let, `f_(e) and f_(p)` be the accelaration of electron and proton respectively, then,
`(f_(e))/(f_(p))=((eE)/(m_(e)))/((eE)/(m_(p)))=(m_(p))/(m_(e))=(1.67xx10^(-27))/(9.1xx10^(-31))=1835.2`
[`m_(e)=` mass of electron, `m_(p)=` mass of proton]`
