A charge q is placed at one corner of cube. The elctric flux through any of the three faces adjacent of the charge is zero.
The flux through any one of the other three faces is

A

`(q)/(3epsi_(0))`

B

`(q)/(6epsi_(0))`

C

`(q)/(12epsi_(0))`

D

`(q)/(24epsi_(0))`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In three, dimensional space, if we consider a Gaussian surface surrounding the charge q, then according to Gauss' theroem, the electric flux through that Gaussiaon surface `=(q)/(epsi_(0))`
Here, the cueb under consideration is occupying `(1)/(8)` the volume of the three dimenslonal space surrounding charge q,
therefore the electric flux through the three non-adjacent faces `=(q)/(8 epsi_(0))`
`:.` the electric flux through any one of those faces
`=(1)/(3)xx(q)/(8 epsi_(0))=(q)/(24epsi_(0))`
The option (D) is correct.
