What will happen if the electrodes of a cell are placed closer to each other and if their size is made larger?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

If the electrodes are placed closer to each other the ions of the reacting electrolyte can move easily from one electrode to another. Again, if the size of the electrodes is large, then ions have the opportunity to move across a large space. So in both the cases internal resistance of the cell decreases. As a result, the cell can send a larger amount of current in the external circuit.
