A torque of 8 units is applied on a magnet when it is kept at `30^(@)` with the direction of a uniform magnetic field of intensity 0.32 units . Determine the magnetic moment of the magnet .

If a magnet having magnetic moment `p_(m)` is placed inclined at an angle `theta` with a uniform magnetic field B , the torque acting on the magnet ,
`tau=p_(m)Bsintheta`
Here, `B=0.32 " units," theta=30^(@)andtau=8 " units". `
`therefore" "p_(m)=(tau)/(Bsintheta)=(8)/(0.32xxsin30^(@))`
`=(8)/(0.32xx(1)/(2))=50" units"`
