Caryopsis is a superior achenial fruit where testa and pericarp are inseparably fused, e.g., wheat, maize etc. Achenial fruits are single seeded indehiscent dry and simple fruits. The pericarp is dry and undifferentiated. The pericarp of wheat us thus dry and it is fused with testa.
