A man swimming in a river from a point. A on one bank has to reach a point C on other bank, which is at a distance `l` from the point B, directly opposite to A on other bank. River width is `d` and the current velocity is `u_(0)`. Find the minimum speed of swimmer relative to still water with which he should swim.

A man can swim with a speed v relative to water . There is a river of width d which is flowing at a speed u . A is the point on river bank from where he starts and B is point directly opposite to A on the other side of the river .

A man wants to reach point B on the opposite bank of a river flowing at a speed as shown in figure. What minimum speed relative to water should the man have so that he can reach point B? In which direction should he swim?

A man is boat intends to cross river from A. If he rows perpendicular to the banks then he takes t_1 = 10 minutes to reach the other bank and he reaches point C at a distance l = 120 m down the stream from the point B which is exactly opposite to A on the other bank. If he heads at a certain angle alpha to the straight path AB against the current he will reach point B in t_2 = 12.5 minutes. The width of river is-

Two swimmers start at the same time from point A one bank of a river to reach point B on the other bank, lying directly oppostie to point A. one of them crosses the river along the straight line AB, while the other swims at right angles to the stream and then walks the distance, which he has been carried awayby the stream to get to point B. Both swimmers reach point B at the same time. what was the velocity (assumed uniform) of his walking if velocity of both the swimmers in still water is 2.5 km h^(-1) and the stream velocity is 2 km h^(-1) ?

A river is flowing at a speed of 5 km/h in a particular direction. A man, who can swim at a speed of 20 km/h in still water, starts swimming along the direction of flow of the river from point A and reaches another point B which is at a distance of 30 km from the starting point A. On reaching point B, the man turns back and starts swimming against the direction of flow of the river and stops after reaching point A. The total time taken by the man to complete his journey is
