From a committee of 8 persons, in how many ways can we choose a chairman and a vice chairman assuming one person can not hold more than one position ?

Chairman can be selected out of 8 persons in 8 ways. After the selection of chairman, vice chairman can be selected out of 7 persons in 7 ways.
`therefore` out of 8 persons, chairman and vice - chairman can be chosen in (8) (7) = 56 ways.
