Amphibai is cold blooded or ectothermal animal as its body temperature does not remain constant but fluctuates with that of enviroment. Thus it is called poikilothermal animal. In winter the temperature of the body activities ceases down. In this condition it can not hibernation in underground. Similarly during the summer it once again goes undergoes to sleep as its all body activities are slowed down due to high temperature. This is known as summer sleep.
