How does the shredded ice convert into solid ice ball (during the preparation of an ice ball)?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

i. While preparing an ice ball, the shredded ice is pressurised around the tip of the stick.
ii. Applied pressure lowers the melting point of ice below `0^(@)C`causing it to melt momentarily.
iii. This merges shredded ice pieces into one.
iv. Once pressure is removed, due to regelation freezing point is restored to`0^(@)C` and the piece re-freezes in the form of single solid ice ball.
