Explain the construction of Hope's apparatus with the help of a labelled diagram.

i. Hope's apparatus consists of cylindrical container with a flat bowl attached to it as shown in the figure below:

ii. There is a provision to attach thermometers below and above the flat bowl on cylindrical container to measure temperature.
To study anomalous behaviour of water, cylindrical container is filled with water and mixture of ice and salt (freezing mixture) is put in flat bowl.
