The correct Answer is:
a

In a synapse, the transmitting cell is called the presynaptic cell and the gap in between is called a synaptic cleft. Synaptic vesicles are found in presynaptic neruron. They contain neurotransmitters which on stimulation are released into synaptic cleft and then these chemicals combine with the receptors on the postsynaptic neuron causing depolarization.

(ii)Neurotransmitter binds to the receptor on post synaptic membrane. (iii)Synaptic vesicle fuses with pre-synaptic membrane, neurotransmitter release into synaptic cleft. [A] : In mammals, ends of presynaptic fibres are enlarged to form synaptic Knobs which are separated by a synaptic cleft from postsynaptic neurons. Each synaptic knob contains many mitochondria and small gran- ule-Iike synaptic vesicles filled with minute packets of the chemical that transmits im- pulses to postsynaptic neurons.
