Dehydrtion of alcohol is unimolecular as well as bimolecular reaction. Dehydration takes place by the use of non volatile acids. The reaction is maily used for the preparation of alkenes. Alkenes can also be prepared by dehalogenation of vic dihalides and dehydro halogenation.
