Why current is a scalar?...

Why current is a scalar?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i)Through the current hasboth direction and magnitude, it is scalar. Because the direction in which the current flows is same current. It does not obey vector law of addition and multiplication vector law of addtion and multiplication current cannot resolved into components unlike other vector quantities.
(ii) For a physical quantity to be termed vector quantity having magnitude and direction is not energy. the quantity shouwl obey the laws of vectors addition. If two currents meet at a juction the total current of the resultant current will be the algebraic sum of the two current and not the vector sum.
