In wheat stone bridge circuit P=7, Q=8, ...

In wheat stone bridge circuit `P=7, Q=8, R=12 & s+7.` Find the additional resistance to be used in series with S, so that the bridge is balanced.

Text Solution

For the bridge to be balanced `(P)/(Q)=(R)/(S)`
Since additionally a resistance'x' is added in series with S, equation (1) can be written as
`(P)/(Q)=(R)/((S+x))`
`(S+x)=(QR)/(P)=x(theta R)/(P)-S`
`x=(8xx12)/(7)-7`
`x=(96)/(7)-7=6.714 Omega`
