When does power factor of a series RLC circuit become maximum ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

At resonance, `X_(L)=X_(C)`
`therefore" impedance "z=sqrt(R^(2)+(X_(L)-X_(C))^(2))rArrsqrt(R^(2))=R`
So the circuit becomes purely resistive and have a phase angle. of `0^(@).`
Power factor `=costheta=cos0^(@)=1`
at resonance, the power factor become max.
