The wheel of a car, accelerated uniformly from rest, rotates through `1.5` rad during the first second. Find the angle rotated during the next second.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

As the angular acceleration is constant, we have
`theta=omega_(0)t+(1)/(2)alphat^(2)=(1)/(2)alphat^(2)" "(because "Angular velocity" omega=0)`
`therefore" "1.5rad=(1)/(2)alpha(1)^(2)`
Angular acceleration, `alpha=3rads^(-2)`
The angular displacement in first two second is given by
`theta_(1)=(1)/(2)xx(3)(2)^(2)=6rad`
Thus, the angle rotated during the 2nd second
`=theta_(1)-theta_(2)=6" rad"-1.5" rad"=4.5rad`
